Privacy Policy

Overview

FlickSwiper is a movie and TV show discovery and tracking app. Your core data — your seen list, watchlist, swipe history, ratings, and custom lists — is stored locally on your device. FlickSwiper also offers optional account features including cloud backup and social list sharing that store data on our servers when you choose to sign in.

Local Data Storage

All app data is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Without an account, your seen items, watchlist, ratings, and custom lists exist only on your device. We do not have access to this data. Standard iCloud device backups may include app data per your Apple settings.

Account Features (Optional)

FlickSwiper offers optional account features including cloud backup and social list sharing. You can sign in with your Apple ID or Google account. You are never required to create an account — all core features work without one.

If you choose to sign in, we collect and store the following data using Google Firebase:

• User ID: A unique identifier provided by Firebase Authentication, linked to your Apple ID or Google account. Used to identify your account.
• Display name: Your name as provided by Apple or Google during sign-in, or a name you choose. Shown to other users who view your shared lists.
• Email address: If provided by your sign-in provider (Apple lets you choose to hide it). Stored by Firebase Authentication for account management. Not displayed to other users.

Cloud Backup

When signed in, your library data is automatically backed up to our servers so it can be restored if you switch devices or reinstall the app. This includes:

• Your swiped items (seen, watchlist, and skipped titles) including movie/TV show titles, identifiers, swipe dates, and your personal ratings.
• Your custom lists (names and which items belong to each list).

This data is stored in your private account space on Google Firebase and is not visible to other users. It is synced automatically while signed in and can be removed by deleting your account.

Social Features

You can optionally publish your custom lists so friends can follow them. When you do:

• Published list data: The list name, contents (movie/TV show titles and identifiers), and your display name are stored on our servers so others can view and follow it.
• Follow relationships: When you follow someone's list, a record of that relationship is stored on our servers.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, browsing history, or any data beyond what is described above.

How We Use Your Data

Account data is used solely to provide the cloud backup and list sharing features. We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, analytics, or any purpose other than the app's functionality. We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to any third party for their own purposes.

Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings within the app. When you delete your account:

• Your user profile is permanently deleted from our servers.
• Your cloud backup data (swiped items, lists, ratings) is deleted from our servers.
• All lists you published are deactivated (followers will see them as "no longer available").
• All your follow relationships are deleted.
• Your Firebase Authentication account is deleted.
• Your local data (seen items, watchlist, ratings, custom lists) is not affected and remains on your device.

Third-Party Services

The Movie Database (TMDB): This app uses the TMDB API to retrieve movie and TV show information including titles, descriptions, posters, and ratings. When the app fetches this information, standard network requests are made to TMDB's servers, which may log technical data such as your IP address in accordance with their own privacy policy. We do not send any personal information to TMDB. Review TMDB's privacy policy at: themoviedb.org/privacy-policy

Google Firebase: If you create an account, we use Firebase Authentication for sign-in and Cloud Firestore for storing published lists and follow relationships. Google's servers are located in the United States. Firebase's privacy practices are described in the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation and the Google Privacy Policy.

Analytics and Tracking

We do not use any analytics services, crash reporting tools, advertising SDKs, or tracking technologies of any kind. We do not track your usage of the app.

Children's Privacy

FlickSwiper is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we will post the revised version at this URL with an updated date.
